Finding the Happy and the Thanks in Thanksgiving Day

Here’s wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving!

The first Thanksgiving 1621 / J.L.G. Ferris 1932

According to American history, the first official Thanksgiving celebration was one of genuine gratitude that…

they were still alive after a transatlantic voyage across the Atlantic.

…many still had surviving relatives with them.

…they had so far survived the lack of food.

…they had also survived the battles between themselves and the native communities in the new land.

They gave credit to God for saving their lives.

Just for fun, try my Thanksgiving logic puzzle!

But what if I’m not thankful or happy?

I wouldn’t necessarily call this (2025) a happy time in history. There is widespread sadness for many reasons.

But depending upon your spiritual beliefs, it could also be considered a hopeful time.

My own personal beliefs are that the more evil raises its head on this earth, the closer we come to the return of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

And even before that, right now, we can individually have peace with God in our hearts and our consciences. Just ask him for it.

I’m sending my prayers up for those who are not having a happy holiday. (I too have experienced that.)

I hope this article about lasting spiritual joy is a boost to your day!

God bless!
