Just a Jaunt

It’s just a jaunt in the neighborhood,

Really nothing more,

It does my body some good,

And I get a chance to explore.

Though I walk the same paths

Something fresh will catch my eye:

Vines ascend a tree trunk,

Ominous clouds provoke the sky.

Daffodil gold-flash in low sunlight

With grassy microdrops of dew

Quivering in the breath of air

That rides the morning current of blue.

These souvenirs can’t return with me,

Nor would they consent, if they could.

Yet the photo journal preserves even

Petal softness, Cardinal song and fragrance of wood.

Inspired…

This collection of photos was inspired by a blog that I follow called “Tuesdays in the Tall Grass”. Reading the posts is very calming to me, and her photos are a visual treat. The blogger, Cindy Crosby, loves the outdoors, and I particularly love how she notices the details of plants and animals. She is also an author and a prairie steward, and teaches prairie ecology, nature writing, and natural history classes. Thank you for sharing your outings, Cindy!
