Writers (and Musicians and Artists of all kinds), this is good.
Thanks to my critique group leader who sent out this link to us, I have just spent a delightful 20 minutes with Elizabeth Gilbert as she speaks on TED about where our inspiration comes from, what to do with it when it surprises us, and what our humble response should be as a writer/creator when we are the recipient of such a gift.
She is the author of Eat, Pray, Love, a book that I have seen everywhere but haven’t read (because my reading list is so long). But I will read it, because I know I will detect her gentle humor, and in my mind I will hear it read in her engaging voice.
What a great introduction to TED talks. This couldn’t have come at a better time for me; this was just what I needed to hear. And the story she told at about 13:00 completely regenerated me!
Enjoy…
